So we’re planning another meeting to hash out ideas and hopefully create some kind of firm plan for action.

Meeting details:

Date: Wednesday, March 25, 2009
Time: 7:30pm – 8:45pm
Location: Free Public Library
in “Area B” . . . at the York Street entrance behind the greeter’s desk, at the bottom of the steps.
Street: 301 York Street

Topics:

Participating in existing organized rides (polo, River City, L’ville Bicycling Club, Fuck Gas, etc.)
Planning a big street clogging bike ride this summer.
Bike billboards.
Throwing together an outdoor bike movie night.
Distributing leaflets on bicycle awareness at city events.
Advocating for more businesses with bike racks.
Helmet donations in a “Toys for Tots” fashion.
On-street parking “picnics”
Bike lane violation antics.
Developing a Fun! side to bicycle advocacy in Louisville.

And everything else that gets brought to the table.

This site itself is primarily going to be a bulletin board for these kinds of events, depending on how quickly they accelerate that is. There’s another site that may take on that task as well, please visit it http://bikesaretraffic.org/ its a much nicer and easier to remember address.

Follow-up Meeting

The name of this site may change in the coming weeks, but for the time being it will suffice. Last night seemed a success in that people came out and contributed enthusiasm and ideas for affecting change [in new and different ways] for cycling in Louisville.

To keep it up to date, we all agreed to schedule a follow-up meeting on the 25th of March. So until then keep your thinking caps on for new ideas, stay in touch, and get on your bikes and ride!

The flyer below says it all. Come and see what’s being planned and contribute your own ideas. This is the ground floor, or maybe even basement level grassroots, the first public meeting regarding critical mass in Louisville, KY [as organized by us that is]. We want to hear your thoughts about what needs changing on our streets for cyclists and take it to the streets.
